Botswana to receive 102 medical specialists from Cuba
Botswana and Cuba signed a Memorandum of Agreement on cooperation in the area of specialised medical health care this morning in Gaborone. This is a new agreement that renews and continues previous collaborations between Botswana and Cuba in the health sector, that have seen many Cuban doctors and other alied professionals being deployed to public hospitals in Botswana. In this agreement, Botswana will recruit some medical specialists from Cuba through a negotiated arrangement. This will see up to 102 Cuban medical specialists being placed in different hospitals across the country.
Minister of Health Hon. Dr Edwin G. Dikoloti signed on behalf of Botswana while the Cuban Ambassador to Botswana Mr Orlando Alvarez Alvarez.
